Sap Abap Interview Questions With Answers

In a SAP ABAP interview, candidates can expect questions related to their understanding of ABAP programming language, the SAP Netweaver platform, and their experience with developing and customizing SAP applications. Common interview questions may include discussing their knowledge of ABAP data types, internal tables, and debugging techniques. Candidates should also be prepared to answer questions about their experience with SAP modules, such as SAP FI/CO or SAP MM, and their ability to work with different development tools like ABAP Workbench or ABAP Development Tools. Providing specific examples from past projects and demonstrating problem-solving skills will help candidates stand out during the interview process.

1 - What is SAP ABAP?

SAP ABAP stands for Advanced Business Application Programming and it is a programming language used for the development of SAP applications. ABAP is a high level language that is primarily used in the development of business applications in the SAP environment.

2) What are the different types of data dictionary objects in ABAP?

There are several data dictionary objects in ABAP such as tables, views, data elements, domain, search helps, lock objects, etc. These objects are used to define the structure, relationships, and behavior of data in the SAP system.

3) What is a transparent table in SAP ABAP?

Transparent tables are database tables in which the data is stored directly. The structure of transparent tables directly corresponds to the structure of the database tables in the underlying database. These tables are defined using the ABAP Dictionary and can be accessed using SQL statements.

4) How do you debug a program in SAP ABAP?

To debug a program in SAP ABAP, you can set breakpoints in the program code using the ABAP debugger. You can then execute the program in debug mode, and the debugger will stop at the specified breakpoints, allowing you to analyze the program flow and the values of different variables.

5) What are the different types of internal tables in ABAP?

There are three types of internal tables in ABAP: standard tables, sorted tables, and hashed tables. Standard tables are keyless tables where the order of the records is not fixed. Sorted tables are key specific tables where the records are maintained in a specific order based on the key. Hashed tables are key specific tables that use a hash algorithm for faster access.

6) What is the difference between a function module and a subroutine in ABAP?

Function modules are standalone functions that can be called from different programs and systems. Subroutines are a part of a program and are called within the same program. Functions modules can be called remotely, whereas subroutines are called locally within the same program.

7) What is the difference between BDC and BAPI in SAP ABAP?

BDC (Batch Data Communication) is a method used to transfer data between SAP and external systems. BAPI (Business Application Programming Interface) is a set of standard interfaces provided by SAP for accessing business objects and functions. BAPIs provide a more structured and controlled way to interact with SAP systems compared to BDC.

8) How do you create a report in SAP ABAP?

To create a report in SAP ABAP, you first need to write the selection screen, which allows users to input parameters. Then, you write the main logic of the report, which retrieves data based on the input parameters. Finally, you display the output using ALV (ABAP List Viewer) or other display options.

9) What is a lock object in SAP ABAP?

A lock object in SAP ABAP is used to manage locks on data records to prevent inconsistencies in the system. Lock objects define the data elements that are to be locked and the type of lock (exclusive or shared) to be applied. Locks are used to ensure data integrity and prevent simultaneous access to the same data record.

10) How do you transport ABAP objects between systems?

To transport ABAP objects between systems, you can use the SAP Transport Management System (TMS). You create a transport request in the source system, which includes the ABAP objects to be transported. Then, you release the transport request, and it is imported into the target system using TMS. This ensures that the ABAP objects are consistent across different SAP systems.
