Preparing for Salesforce Development Interview: Common Questions

Salesforce Development Interview Questions

Salesforce development interview questions typically cover a range of topics, such as Apex programming, Lightning components, Salesforce customization, integration with external systems, and best practices in development. Interviewers may ask about your experience with building custom solutions in Salesforce, handling data migration, writing test classes, and working with declarative tools like Process Builder and Flow. Additionally, they might inquire about your understanding of Salesforce architecture, security model, governor limits, and sharing settings. It's important to be prepared to discuss your technical skills, project experience, problem-solving abilities, and knowledge of the latest Salesforce features to demonstrate your proficiency in Salesforce development during the interview.

1 - Explain the difference between Trigger and Process Builder in Salesforce development. Triggers are pieces of code that are executed before or after a record is inserted, updated, or deleted. They can handle complex business logic and perform more advanced operations. Process Builder, on the other hand, is a visual workflow tool that allows users to create automated processes by setting up a series of criteria and actions without writing code.

2) What is the difference between SOQL and SOSL queries in Salesforce? SOQL (Salesforce Object Query Language) is used to query Salesforce records and returns a list of records that meet the specified criteria. SOSL (Salesforce Object Search Language) is used to perform a full text search across multiple standard and custom objects in Salesforce. SOQL is more selective and powerful for querying specific records, while SOSL is more suitable for searching for specific text.

3) Describe the difference between Workflow Rules and Process Builder in Salesforce. Workflow Rules are used to automate standard internal procedures and actions based on certain criteria. They are suited for simpler actions like email alerts, creating tasks, or field updates. Process Builder provides a more advanced visual interface for creating complex business processes with multiple criteria and actions. It can handle more advanced automation scenarios and offers greater flexibility than Workflow Rules.

4) How do you handle bulkification in Apex code? Bulkification is the process of ensuring that code is written to efficiently handle large volume data sets. To achieve this in Apex code, developers should avoid using SOQL queries or DML statements inside loops. Instead, they should bulkify their code by collecting data from multiple records into lists or maps and then performing a single query or DML operation outside the loop.

5) Explain the difference between a Sandbox and a Developer Edition in Salesforce. Sandboxes are copies of your Salesforce organization where you can develop and test changes before deploying them to production. They come in different types such as Developer, Developer Pro, Partial, and Full, each serving a specific purpose. Developer Edition, on the other hand, is a free Salesforce environment for individual developers to build and test applications with limited resources and capabilities compared to Sandboxes.
